Butterfly Cards

Welcome to Butterfly Cards! 🦋🃏

-Introduction-

The goal of the game is to get rid of all your cards and yell "Butterfly" before anyone else. The reason why this game is called “Butterfly Cards” is because the wings of a butterfly are symmetrical. Even numbers are conceptually symmetrical and are a key point of the game.  I recommend more than 2 players for this game.

-Card Values-

Even number cards like 2, 4, 8, and 10 have the most power in the game because they allow the player to take a second turn after yelling "Butterfly". These cards override face cards (Jack, Queen, and King). 

***Cards are played in numerical order from the lowest to the highest number***

-In-Game Callouts-

If the even-numbered or "butterfly" card is placed down by you or another player, try your best to scream "Butterfly" before the opposing player(s). By doing this, you or the opposing player will need to take the entire game pile. Remember the goal is to get rid of your cards!

-Game Set Up-

Each player will receive 9 cards, without looking select 3 cards to put face-down. After this, you can look at your cards and select the "best" 3 cards to put face-up on top of the face-down cards. (This can include "butterfly cards" or face cards!) You will not be able to look at the "face-down" cards until the end of the game when you choose them at random to place on the central pile. 

***You must ALWAYS have at least 3 cards in your hands***

When all players have done this, you may begin the game by placing your cards in numerical order in the center of the group. You can only put down the card that can numerically beat the card on top, if you can't you must draw a card in the "side card pile".

Towards the end of your game, if your "face-down" card is less than the card in the center, you must take the entire stack. In this instance, only after all the cards in your hands are gone, can you touch the remaining "face-down" cards. If needed, draw cards from the "side card pile" to defeat the central card.
